joining hellian
welcome to hell! to get started, you can use either an ic or ooc journal, really whichever works best for you! just a quick note: please avoid underscores or random letters/numbers in your username. we ask that everyone have one ic and one ooc post in their journals, with each backdated so they won't show up on the fp when people run the button. for your ooc post, please include: your character's full name, birthdate, hometown & neighborhood, occupation, a short 250–500 word blurb about their personality and/or history. you can find great resources for layouts, icons, and character profiles in writer. to help keep our space safe and welcoming, please set your comment settings to friends only or make your public friends friends only. also, we ask that you don't use no-embed in your profiles as this helps us keep track of activity and ensure flists are up to date. members with flists older than 7 days may be removed for inactivity. thanks for helping us keep things fun, organized, and safe for everyone!

claiming premades
when you bring a character in you can create a completely original character and background or you can claim a family! you cannot apply with someone from a family that is already claimed unless you have worked this out with the person that claimed them. they have the option to turn you down if they aren't looking for more family members. the same applies to businesses! claimed businesses means the person who claimed it has ownership and to work at that business, you must work it out with that person. we do allow original businesses to be submitted and we do allow people to bring competing businesses and you can't claim ownership of ideas. there can be more than one italian restaurant, music store, tattoo parlor, et cetera - don't get territorial! embrace it.

activity rules
we want hellian to be a community that inspires you to update rather than forces you. we know that that cannot be the case every single month but to make sure everyone is doing something, we can't go without activity rules. intros are to be posted within 72 hours to --. if your introduction goes 48 hours without the majority of the comments being replied to, you will be considered doa and removed. your introductory posts can be anything you want so long as it's interactive. social media, playlist, survey, traditional format, et cetera. updating monthly is what shows us you're still here and you're active. we are not the kind of mods who will be upset because you have a life outside of rp! we do too so we want updating to be stress free. the first way to meet your monthly requirements is to post anything you once a month. we highly suggest posting something early in the month or in the middle as we won't allow extensions more than two months in a row. alternative requirements expect that you are being very active on the fp. this community will have many activities and participating in them weekly can land you a pass in updating. there will be more to come on that.

triggering / nsfw content
be mindful of what you post on the fp. use cuts and warnings when posting anything that could be a trigger or not safe for work.

discord, wire, be nice
we are a journal based community and this means no apps! use customs to communicate ic. finally we ask you follow the golden rule! if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all. if you can't handle what people do ic without running to anons, getting blurry or rude ooc then we don't want you here. handle it all ic. any blurring of lines or poor treatment of anyone ooc will result in your character's removal and you won't be able to rejoin. when interacting ic, please use common sense. we welcome characters with any kind of personality trait you want but if your character is combative and mean or sexist 24/7 or unncessarily, then other characters are allowed to avoid them ic. what we're saying is - bring us well rounded characters with facets that are fun to write with.
